Beginning with surveys occurring on Nov. 28, 2017, Appendix P will no longer be accessible. The Long Term Care Survey Process Procedure Guide will replace Appendix P as the procedural and technical guide for conducting long-term care standard surveys. Chapter 7 of the State Operations Manual (SOM) will be revised to include survey policy.

This video from the August 2019 Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Quality Reporting Program (QRP) Provider Training held on August 13 and 14, 2019, provides a overview of the current SNF quality measures. This YouTube channel has multiple brief trainings on how to log in and utilize the Internet Quality Improvement and Evaluation System (iQIES). iQIES is CMS’s new tracking, analysis and data repository system. Facilities can access their quality measure reports as well as other CMS communications and documents.

On July 2, 2024, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced that Medicare coverage is now available for Kisunla (donanemab-azbt) following the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) move to grant traditional approval to the drug that treats people with Alzheimer’s disease. Kisunla joins Leqembi (the brand name for lecanemab-irmb) as the second monoclonal amyloid beta antibody treatment granted traditional FDA approval for Alzheimer’s disease.

PEPPERresources.org is the official site for information, training and support related to the Program for Evaluating Payment Patterns Electronic Report (PEPPER). PEPPER provides provider-specific Medicare data statistics for discharges and services vulnerable to improper payments. PEPPER can support a facility’s compliance efforts by identifying where it is an outlier for these risk areas. This data can help identify both potential over payments as well as potential underpayments.
