Think Sepsis

This tool from the Nebraska Hospital Association shares updated best practices and strategies to drive process improvement for the treatment of sepsis.

The program from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which is modeled after a similar effort for antibiotic stewardship, is intended as a “manager’s guide” to organizing staff and making resources available to improve sepsis care and bring survival rates up.

Without prompt treatment, sepsis can rapidly lead to tissue damage, organ failure and death. This tool provides the signs and symptoms of a sepsis infection to help health care professionals get ahead of sepsis and know what to do if an infection is suspected.

Sepsis affects almost two million adults and children every year. This presentation will give an overview of identification of sepsis in vulnerable populations, early detection and response, and leadership support for implementation and compliance of sepsis bundles.
