Importance of CLAS standards during COVID-19 to communicate clearly and simply
The national Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) standards were created in 2000 to advance health equity, improve quality and help eliminate health care disparities. One specific standard, the number eight standard, calls for health care institutions to provide easy-to-understand print and multimedia materials for patients, families and the community. This was never more important than during the COVID-19 pandemic. Learn more about this standard and how to apply it in your everyday practices.
