CMS Issues Emergency Regulation Requiring COVID-19 Vaccination for Health Care Workers

CDC COVID-19 Booster Guidance
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has approved the administration of a COVID-19 booster dose of the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccine to counter waning immunity. The FDA and CDC have previously authorized booster doses of the Pfizer vaccine in specific populations, as well as a third dose of Pfizer or Moderna for immunocompromised individuals.

CDC Health Alert: Get Vaccinated Against COVID-19
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) strongly recommends continued efforts to accelerate primary vaccination efforts, especially in areas with lower vaccination coverage. Individuals who are not fully vaccinated need to maintain all recommended prevention measures. People who are immunocompromised should be counseled about the potential for reduced immune responses to COVID-19 vaccines and to follow current prevention measures to protect themselves against COVID-19 until advised otherwise by their health care provider.

New Program: HRSA COVID-19 Coverage Assistance Fund
On May 3, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), announced the HRSA COVID-19 Coverage Assistance Fund. This program covers the cost of administering COVID-19 vaccines to patients enrolled in health plans that either don’t cover vaccination fees or cover them with patient cost-sharing.
